In the spring, bluebells & primroses. In the summer, the nightingale (sings in the day too). In the autumn, blackberries, sloes & rose hips.
Best is simply sitting in the garden with a cup of tea, listening to the birdsong and catching the breath of mother nature.
For those that need to move and get the blood flowing, there are many cross-country walks that start from the cottage and make use of the UK’s extensive network of public footpaths. Options extend from a short stroll around the field next door, to serious hikes that are limited only by your stamina. Online maps are available here
Please ensure your dog is leashed in fields with livestock and take care crossing stiles as they can be slippery when wet.
(If you forgot your wellies, never fear, there are several pairs in the shed that you are welcome to use.)
